Privacy policy.

Last updated 13 May 2026. If anything here is unclear, get in touch and we'll explain it in plain English.

This policy explains what personal information Marine Minds Ltd collects, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have.

Who we are

Marine Minds Ltd is the data controller for any personal data collected through this website and our consultancy work. Registered office: 9 Lufton Heights Commerce Park, Boundary Way, Yeovil BA22 8UY. Contact: jason@marineminds.co.uk.

What we collect

  • Contact details you give us via the contact form, email, phone or WhatsApp — name, company, email, phone number and the message itself.
  • Correspondence related to a project or enquiry, kept while it is relevant and for a reasonable period afterwards.
  • Basic site analytics (page views, referrers, approximate location) collected by Netlify and any analytics provider in use. This data is aggregated and does not identify individuals.

Why we collect it

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss whether we can help.
  • To deliver consultancy services where we have agreed to work together.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations as a UK limited company.

We do not sell, rent or share personal data with third parties for marketing.

Legal basis

We process personal data on the basis of: your consent (when you contact us); the performance of a contract (when we are working together); and our legitimate interests in running a small consultancy and keeping records of correspondence.

How long we keep it

Enquiry data is held for up to 24 months after the last contact, then deleted unless it forms part of an active or recently completed project. Client project records are held for at least six years after the end of the engagement, in line with normal UK accounting practice.

Sharing

We may share personal data with service providers acting on our behalf — for example our email host, accountant, hosting provider (Netlify) and, where appropriate, sub-contractors working on your project. Each is bound by appropriate confidentiality terms.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to ask us to delete it, to restrict or object to processing and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email jason@marineminds.co.uk.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk if you are unhappy with how we have handled your data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will appear here with a new "last updated" date. Material changes will be flagged on the home page.
